The Reading Rockets are set to kick off their season in just over a week. Heading into the final weekend of training camp sources tell LaxDirt.com that the roster could be completed as soon as Saturday afternoon.

With names like Travis Bland, Brendan Muise, Scotty Komer and Brandon Turner slated to be in camp The Rockets are looking to put their best foot forward in the opening game. Word is that number one over all pick and Major League Lacrosse standout Steele Stanwick may still end up playing for the team as well.

Komer is an accomplished goaltender in CLax as well as Canadian Sr B and a proven Box Lacrosse commodity. Muise and Bland give you offense from either side with Travis being predominantly right handed and Brendan being a lefty shooter. The two also bring with them a built in chemistry having played together on The Ajax Rock this past summer.

Bland recorded 13 goals and 14 assists for Ajax while Muise had 4 goals and 18 assists. The pair finished out the summer at second and third in overall points for The Rock and despite a disappointing summer for the team as a whole, the duo proved to be a bright spot on offense. Add to that Brandon Turner a hard nosed tough defender who has been climbing the draft boards for NLL teams and you have a solid core of Canadian talent to build from.

Where some teams have decided to focus on American players in The Professional Lacrosse League, The Reading Rockets have made it clear with who they have invited to camp they intend to have more of a mix. There is no question that at this point box lacrosse is a sport dominated by Canadians.

It is safe to say that General Manager Andy Makal realizes this and is not opposed to having a Canadian presence in his locker room if it means more success for his team. Stay tuned this weekend as the picture of what the Rockets will look like this season should become more clear.
